1. How many types of Aluminum alloys?
1 series:1000 series aluminum alloys represent the 1050, 1060, and 1100 series. Series 1000 is one of the series with the highest aluminum content of all series. Its purity can reach more than 99.00%. Because it contains no other technical elements, the production process is relatively simple and inexpensive, making it one of the most commonly used series in conventional industry today.
1000 series aluminum sheets have a minimum aluminium content of this series based on the last two Arabic numbers. For example, the last two Arabic numbers of the 1050 series is 50, according to the international naming principle, the aluminum content must reach 99.5% or more to qualify the product.
2000 series aluminum alloys represent the 2024, 2A16(LY16), 2A02(LY6). 2000 series aluminum plate is characterized by high hardness, including the highest content co copper, about 3-5% of the original metal. The 2000 series aluminum rods are aerospace aluminum and are not commonly used in conventional industry today.
3000 series aluminum alloys represent 3003, 3A21. 3000 series aluminum rods are made of manganese element as the main component. With a content of 1.0-1.5, it is series with a good rust prevention function.
4000 series aluminum rods represent 4A01, 4000 series aluminum plates belong to the series with higher silicon content. Usually the silicon content is between 4.5-6.0%. Low melting point, good corrosion resistance, product description:heat-resistant, wear-resistant characteristics.
5000 series aluminum alloys represent 5052, 5005, 5083, 5A05 series. 5000 series aluminum rods belong to the more commonly used alloy aluminum plate series, the main element is magnesium, containing magnesium content between 3-5%, also known as aluminum-magnesium alloy. Its main characteristics are low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, good fatigue strength, but not heat treatment to strengthen. In the same area under the weight of aluminum-magnesium alloy is lower than other series. It is widely used in conventional industry.
6000 series aluminum alloys represent 6061. it contains mainly magnesium and silicon, so it concentrates the advantages of the 4000 and 5000 series. 6061 is a cold treated forged aluminum product for applications where corrosion resistance and oxidation requirements are high. Good serviceability, easy coating, good process-ability.
7000 series aluminum alloys represent 7075, it contains mainly zinc, also belongs to aviation series, it is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, a heat-treatable alloy, a super-hard aluminum alloy, with good abrasion resistance. It also has good weld-ability, but has poor corrosion resistance.
