From 31 August to 1 September, 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin and held bilateral talks with Chinese leaders. It was Narendra Modi’s visit to China after a seven-year gap, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India.

 

 

At noon on August 31, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Tianjin State Guesthouse. Xi Jinping emphasized that being friendly neighbors and mutually beneficial partners should be the right choice for both China and India. Xi Jinping stressed that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India. Both sides should view and handle China-India relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, further elevate bilateral ties through the Tianjin meeting, and promote the sustained, healthy, and stable development of the relationship. Narendra Modi stated that India and China are partners, not rivals, and that consensus far outweighs differences. India is willing to view and develop bilateral relations from a long-term perspective and is ready to work with China to seek a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution.

This visiting may have multiple impacts on the optical emission spectrometer.

Bilateral trade between China and India reached $138.4 billion in 2024, with further potential to be released. The visiting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China may further boost bilateral trade growth. For optical emission spectrometers, it means Chinese manufacturers of spectrometer may expand exports to India. Chinese OES hold certain advantages in both technology and pricing. As China-India trade relations strengthen, opportunities for their products to enter the Indian market may increase. Simultaneously, relevant raw materials or components from India may gain easier access to the Chinese market, offering Chinese enterprises more choices for production.

China and India have cooperation potential in the field of science and technology. Optical emission spectrometer involve multiple technical fields such as optics and electronics, where enterprises or research institutions from both countries may collaborate on these technologies. For example, both parties can engage in exchanges and cooperation in areas such as spectrometer R&D and technological improvements to jointly enhance product performance and quality. In addition, this may also promote talent exchange and development, providing greater intellectual support for the advancement of the optical emission spectrometer industry.

As key members of the Global South, China and India hold significant standing on the international stage. By strengthening cooperation and closely coordinating within multilateral mechanisms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS countries, the two nations can better protect their shared interests. It will have a positive impact on the collective empowerment of the Global South and help advance the international order toward greater democracy and fairness.
