Vacuum Pump Oil Turns Creamy

Failure phenomenon: After resealing the vacuum chamber or replacing the molecular sieve in the collector, vacuum pumping appears that the vacuum pump oil becomes creamy, which indicates that the vacuum pump oil is emulsified.

Treatment: Direct heating treatment of the molecular sieve in the collector.

The operation steps are as follows:

(1) Close the vacuum pump valve first. Without closing the vacuum pump valve, oil and water vapor will enter the optical chamber during heating, which will seriously contaminate the grating, reflector, photomultiplier tube, etc., and will seriously affect the analysis accuracy.

(2) Insert the plug of the resistor wire in the collector into the 115VAC socket, at which time the resistor wire begins to be heated.

(3) Open the leakage diverter valve valve on the right side of the vacuum pump body. Let the vacuum pump body lose the vacuum state, the vacuum pump to maintain the state of continuous pumping.

(4) After heating for 2h, unplug the collector 115VAC power supply.

(5) The vacuum pump continues to pump, such as the collector temperature natural cooling or blowing with an electric fan to accelerate the cooling to room temperature.

(6) Close the vacuum pump pump body side leakage diversion valve valve again.

(7) Let the vacuum pump continue to pump for more than 20~30min before opening the vacuum pump valve.

After the molecular sieve is cooled, the vacuum pump valve cannot be opened immediately. Because, at this time, the vacuum pump side leakage and diversion valve is not closed tightly, the vacuum pump is still in a non-vacuum state, which will cause the vacuum pump oil backsiphonage, contamination of the molecular sieve and the vacuum chamber, which is to be very careful.
